Eighteen retire from MWP-ISD

The Monahans-Wickett-Pyote I,S,D, recently said thanks and goodbye to personnel retiring from the district this year. 

A reception honoring the retirees was held at the Community Center Parlor May 28. Many colleagues, friends and relatives attended to congratulate 18 retirees.

Retiring this year are: Harold Hicks, a high school Spanish teacher with 17 years experience; Manuel Sanchez-19 years; Sylvia Torres-20 years; Nita Lear-23 years, 22 of which were at Tatom Elementary as an art teacher; Neva Green-23 years; Judy McClanahan-25 years with 17 as a first grade teacher and four years as a speech language pathologist; Mary Duran-25 years with several years as cafeteria director; Jessie Cobos-25 years; Brenda Scarborough-26 years split between Tatom and Sudderth; Sylvlia Portillo-27 years with the last four years as special education director; Kathryn Newell-28 years; Janette Rutherford-29 years with several as high school librarian; Joyce White-31 years.

Also Arcilla Reyes 31-years with the last several as head custodian at Edwards; Barbara Longbotham; Dick McClanahan-35 with seven years as high school principal and five years as Tatom principal; and Margaret Nixon-37 years with 36 as first grade bilingual teacher at Edwards.
