MHS, LWJHS Band Members Advance To Area

The Monahans High School Band and Walker Junior High School
band recently attended Association of Small School Bands Regional
Competition. The MHS band competition was held in Greenwood and the Walker
Jr. High School band competition was held in Crane.
Nineteen MHS band members placed in the competition and twelve will participate in Area competition.
Thirty-five band students at WJHS won at the Regional meet.
Monahans High School Regional winners were:
Elizabeth Bouguin, senior, received first chair flute at Region and advances to Area competition.
Kaula Smith, a junior, received 12th chair clarinet.
Brady Bean, a senior, received 6th chair tuba at Region and advances to Area Competition.
Jordan Jernigan, a freshmen, received 11th chair clarinet.
Tiffany Blackwell, senior, drum major for the Monahans High School Band received 3rd chair at Region and advances to Area competition.
Emily Moser, senior, received 2nd chair clarinet at Region and advances to Area competition.
Matt Swanson, senior, received 5th chair trombone at Region.
Kelsey
Kilcrease, junior, received 4th chair bassoon at
Region.
Georg Zehetmair Euphonium, junior, received 3rd chair at Region. He is a foreign exchange student hosted by Michael and Georganna Swanson. He will advance to Area Competition.
Chris Garcia, a sophomore, received first chair bassoon and advances to Area competition.
Bo Rose, a freshman, received first chair baritone and advances to Area competition.
Whitney Rutledge, senior, received 3rd chair alto saxophone and advances to Area competition.
Jeremy Brown, junior, received 6th chair at Region and advances to Area as first alternate.
Victor Calzada, a senior, received 10th chair cornet at Region. He also participates in golf.
Crystal Newburg, a junior, received 12th chair flute.
Marcus Ashbrook, senior, received 4th chair tuba at Region and advances to Area Competition.
Briana French, junior, received 4th chair French horn at Region and advances to Area competition.
