MHS Twirlers Advance To State

The big green
twirlers competed in UIL region Twirling solo and Ensemble contest held at
Ratliff Stadium in Odessa on Sat, October, 22. Each
twirler
performed an individual solo as well a group routine. The twirling
judge had several positive comments about the twirling line. "Good looking line, well composed and executed routine, body work and
partner work excellent, good variety and difficulty with unusual move, great
job ~~no drops and no breaks !"
The Monahans twirlers were the only twirling line to receive a Division 1+ at the UIL contest advancing them to state. Whitney Gonzales, Megan Galindo and Candace Cutbirth also received a Division 1 on their solo performances. Candace Swarb, senior, received a Division 1+.
In addition, Alyssa Nabarrette, former Big Green Band twirler, currently attending Permian HS in Odessa, received a Division 1+.
Candace and Alyssa were the only solo competitors to receive a Division 1+ in Odessa The girls advance to UIL State Solo and Ensemble contest at San Marcos in May .
Candace Swarb, head twirler, was extremely pleased with the line's performance. "We are very happy to have executed the routine so well on the day of the contest and we are even more proud of the members of the Big Green Band."
The twirling line consists of Candace Swarb, Whitney Gonzales, Megan Galindo and Candace Cutbirth the Twirling coaches are Margie Shawn and Megan Shawn.
