Bands bring home First Divisions!
~~Monahans News -- October 22, 2003
The Big Green Band and Little Green Band from Monahans played
well at Ratcliff Stadium in Odessa Saturday, according to Band Director John
Zalman, and each band brought home a Division I Rating.
Zalman said, "The kids just really stepped up and did the best performance they've done all year-both the junior high and the high school.
Zalman noted the comments received from some of the judges reflected the outstanding marching and musical ability of the bands.
One judge, he noted, said, "Band plays very well. I'm impressed with the maturity and sound."
Others indicated "blend and precision very good. Percussion did a very nice job."
"Very fine band, I enjoyed your performance."
Zalman said from a standpoint of contests this is an off year for Monahans. "For marching, this is the end of our contests."
He noted, however, that every Friday night "we've gone out we've gotten better."
There were many good bands at the contest in Odessa.
Zalman said Forsan and Crane were really strong this year.
In 3A, the bands from Fort Stockton and Greenwood also Played First Division along with Monahans.
