MRS. DOLORES RATCLIFF |
U.S. History Class Recreates 1787 Constitutional Convention Medieval Banquet Award
Ellis Island Distinguished Lecture Series' Round Table / Town Hall Discussion Project Pic

While studying the events of the late 19th and early 20th
centuries, the Pre AP U.S. History students of Mrs. Ratcliff participated in a
lively discussion of issues of the day while attending a fancy tea at the
Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Students researched the life of a famous person of
that time, and then dressed in the fashion of the day, discussed the issues
important to them. "Student participation and interaction far
exceeded my expectation," said Mrs. Ratcliff. ![]()

While studying the Baroque Period, students in Mrs. Ratcliff's
World History class participated in projects which reflected the music, art, and
architecture of the Baroque Period. Below are several examples of art from
that period. Students studies various painters of the period, including
Vermeer, Rembrandt, and Velazquez. They then chose a painting by one of
these artist and reproduced it -- including the costumes and background.
While presenting these projects in class, students enjoyed a Baroque picnic,
complete with french bread, fruits and cheese. ![]()
