WHAT IS FTA?

Texas Future Teachers of America is an organization designed to assist students who are considering teaching as a career or who are considering a career involving working with children.  The Mary Ethel Adams Chapter of TFTA at MHS is one of the oldest organizations on campus.  

During the year members are involved with public service projects such as "Stocking in a Box," which benefits the Rainbow Room and Child Protective Services, and Pictures of Santa, a project carried out in conjunction with the Monahans Chamber of Commerce.  

The group also sponsors mentoring sessions with University of Texas of the Permian Basin.  These sessions are open to all MHS students and are designed to assist them in applying for college entrance and scholarships, grants, and loans.  

In the spring semester, senior members of FTA are eligible to assist daily in elementary classrooms to experience teaching firsthand.  FTA is open to any member of the MHS student body.
