LOBO CHEERLEADERS

Lobo Cheerleaders earned top honors at camp this summer.  The nine girl varsity squad attended the Big Country Cheer Camp in Abilene at the Hardin-Simmons University Campus, where they put in long hours honing their routines.

Each night of the camp the team won the coveted Spirit Stick for enthusiasm and spirit.  Six of the girls -- Trisha Clements, Allison Jordan, Whitney Mitchell, Alexia Ochoa, Lyndi Cypher, and mascot Kiley Blalock, were nominated for All-American.  Both Mitchell and Blalock were selected as All-American.  Blalock was also asked to join the NCA as a mascot instructor next year.

For the second straight year, the MHS squad won the Top Team award out of their 11 school division.

Sponsors Kellye Riley and Kim Ashbrook said the girls deserved hearty congratulations for a fine job of representing Monahans High School.  Cheerleaders include:  Allison Jordan, Alexia Ochoa, Miranda Russ, Marissa Merrick, Whitney Mitchell, Kara Rodriguez, Trisha Clements, Lyndi Cypher, and Kiley Blalock.
