Lady Loboes Fall Twice to Lady

Monahans Volleyball players and fans
were in Seminole this weekend. While the teams did not come home with a
championship title, they did come away with three wins and some valuable
pre-district experience.
On Friday, the Lady Loboes started Black Bracket play by defeating 4A Big Spring 25-5 and 25-19. In the semifinals, Hereford fell to Monahans in two games, 25-26 each time. Hereford placed third in the bracket by defeating host Seminole.
In the bracket championship, Monahans fell to Midland Lee in two close games, 23-25 and 22-25.
Monahans played in the gold Bracket on Saturday. Their only win of the day was over Canyon, 25-12 and 25-28 In the semifinals, El Paso Montwood beat Monahans 25-29 and 26-24, which sent Monahans into the tournament's third place match.
Monahans faced Lee again for third place, but this time fell harder at 16-25 and 18-25.
Hereford went on to win the tournament by beating El Paso Montwood 25-14 twice.
Monahans' Jordan Latham was named to the all-tournament team. Kaitlin Mitchell, Lady Lobo senior, was named the tournament's outstanding setter.
After falling to Lee twice at the Seminole tournament, Monahans will travel to face Lee again in Midland September 4th. Varsity play begins at 6:30 after the JV & freshman teams play at 5:30.
