Mitchell Signs With Final
Four Team Kaitlin Mitchell recently signed with Frank Phillips College located in Borger, Texas. Mitchell will be competing for the starting setter position on the FPC volleyball Team. Charity Savedra, head volleyball coach at FPC, speaks highly of Mitchell. "I only got to spend a day with Kaitlin but in that short time she made an immediate impact on me with her athleticism and setting abilities," said Savedra. The FPC Lady Plainsmen are fourth in the nation after a 42-3 season in 2007-08. In their trip to the final four, the team finished higher than any other junior college in the state and produced three NJCAA All-Americans. It was the school's sixth trip to the NJCAA National Volleyball Championship. Mitchell also has an impressive volleyball history, setting her team to the State Finals in the 2007-08 season. Mitchell was also named to the Texas Girls' Coaches Association's All-Star west team, the TGCA All-State team, TGCA Academic All-State team and the TGCA State Championship All-Tournament team. Coach Savedra is enthusiastic about the next season with Mitchell at the net. "We have one goal next year and that is to win a National Championship and I feel by adding Kaitlin to our roster, it will bring us that mush closer to our goal," said Coach Savedra. Borger is located in the Texas Panhandle, 42 miles northeast of Amarillo. Kaitlin is the daughter of proud parents, Mickey and Foydell Mitchell.
