New to the District

Welcome to Monahans Wicket Pyote Independent School District 

If you are new, this page will help with the basics to get started. If you have more questions you can contact your children’s campuses. For pre-kindergarten and kindergarten children please call Cullender Kindergarten at 432-943-5252, for first and second-grade children call Tatom at 432-943- 2769, for third, fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade call Parkway at 432-943-5101, for seventh or eighth grades call Walker Junior High at 432-943-4622, and for high school students ninth to twelfth grade call Monahans High School at 432-943-2519. 

Are you registering a Pre-K student, please follow these instructions:

Is Your Child Eligible for Pre-K?

Please view the Income Chart to see if your child qualifies.

  • For example, if there is one parent and one child living in the home that counts as two people on the income chart. All income for all adults living in the home must be counted.

Another way to qualify is if you can answer YES to at least one of the questions in the Other Eligibility Requirements list 

  1. is unable to speak and comprehend the English language;

  2. is educationally disadvantaged (which means a student who is eligible to participate in the Free and Reduced Lunch Guidelines (see chart above)

  3. is homeless;

  4. is the child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States;

  5. is the child of a member of the armed forces who was injured or killed while on active duty;

  6. is or ever has been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (foster care) following an adversary hearing held as provided by Section 262.201, Family Code; or

  7. is the child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as:

    1. a peace officer under Section 3106.002, Government Code;

    2. a firefighter under Section 3106.003, Government Code; or

    3. an emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004, Government Code.

YES, my child qualifies either by income or because I can answer “Yes” to at least one of the alternate eligibility requirement questions

No, my child does not qualify for pre- K. We are sorry and we will see you next year. 

If Yes, please have the following Documentation

  • Proof of income
  • Birth Certificate
  • Current Immunization Records
  • Social Security Card (if the child has one)
  • Proof of address (utility bill, lease agreement, or mortgage agreement)

Military Dependents Must Also Have the Following: 
Department of Defense photo identification or Statement of Service letter from the AG or Human Resources if active reservist or member of the Texas National Guard

Families With Children in Foster Care Must Also Have the Following: 
Documentation from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Resources
